What is Alpha Gamma Omega?
Alpha Gamma Omega is a national fraternity of Christian brothers.
The first chapter, the Alpha chapter, was founded at UCLA in 1927. Since then, 16 chapters have been founded all across the US.
The Epsilon chapter, here at SDSU (originally founded in 1965) was re-founded again in 1979.
The Purposes of the Fraternity:
1.To win others to a saving knowledge of Jesus christ
2. To promote Christian fellowship
3. To present Christian ideals in word and deed
4. To search reverently for the truth
5. To uphold the traditions and ideals of the university
6. And to deepen the spiritual lives of the members
Fraternity Motto: "Fraternity for Eternity"
Fraternity Verse: "Study to show thyself approved unto God; a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." ~ II Timothy 2:15
Fraternity Letters: Alpha Omega, the first name chosen by the Fraternity, was taken from the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ where our Lord says, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending..." This name was chosen to show that we are a group which recognizes the sovereign majesty of God and His dominion and Lordship over all things. However, it was later found that there was an organization in existence which had the same name. Therefore, the letter "Gamma" was chosen to be added since it is the third letter of the Greek alphabet, thus corresponding with the "C" in the Latin alphabet -- "C" being the initial of Christ. It was inserted between the Alpha and Omega to signify the oneness of Christ with God, and to remind us that He is to be kept at the center of our lives and our Fraternity.
10 Reasons Why You Should Consider AGO:
10. You Want Better Grades.
At AGO, the brothers will hold you accountable in your studies. You can also get tutoring from the older guys. We maintain an Academic Test File which has past exams from numerous classes and professors. Our library also provides a great place to study as well as our URL (Upper Reading Lounge). The guys can also give you advice on which classes and professors to take, or avoid. Overall, AGO's house GPA is well above the university average and best among AGO chapters nationally.
9. You Want to Save Money.
College is expensive! Many student's GPA suffer because they work too many hours. They are probably not enjoying college as much either. The cost of housing at the AGO chapter house is about four thousand dollars less per year than living in the dorms and considerably less than apartments. Work less, save money, and hang out with the bros.
8. You Enjoy Music or Sports.
AGO participates in on-campus intermural sports such as football, basketball, and softball. Other activities include retreats, organized events, and even concerts on out outdoor stage. You will have opportunities to use your musical or athletic talents as a vehicle for outreach, fellowship, as well as fun.
7. Employment Networking.
AGO men are found throughout the world in various occupations. Our alumni network works together to assist brothers in graduate school counseling, career guidance, and employment opportunities.
6. Christian Resource Library.
Our chapter library is stocked full of books, tapes, videos and other resources to provid tools to assist brothers in outreach and personal time in the Word.
5. Fellowship & Accountability.
AGO has a lot to offer in fellowship and accountability. If you welcome accountability, you will find it at here with the strong friendships that develop among a dedicated group of Christian guys. This is a great place to grow in your relationship with Christ and each other.
4. Diversity of Brotherhood.
Many AGO brothers relate how AGO broadens their horizons and view of the world around them by giving them brothers from different social, economic, denominational, and ethnic backgrounds.
3. You Want to Have Fun.
Its hard not to have a good time at AGO. Whether its a spontaneous or a planned event, Christ is the center of all we do. AGO provides a atmosphere for a young man to expand his social horizons in a wide variety of settings. Some of the events include retreats, weekly fellowship meetings, sports events, concerts on our outdoor stage, serenades, formals, date events, camp outs, and road trips.
2. The Intangibles...
AGO provides brothers many ways to develop and exercise their gifts and talents in the body of Christ. You will find true friends for life because our commonality in Christ binds us together. You will develop "Life Skills" such as leadership, organization, time management, budgeting, running a household, and conflict resolution. When you leave college with a degree, make sure you also get an education.
1. It Might Be Part of God's Will For You.
This is something to definately pray about. If AGO offers you something of interest, then please let us know by emailing us. We'll be glad to tell you more!

What are the financial obligations?
There is no need to worry about Financial Obligations, they should not harbor your committment and willingness to join.
What is the time commitment?
There is a large time commitment required to join the house. Despite this commitment, most men are able to serve at their church, as well as an officer while maintaining a relationship, a job, and keeping their grades up.
What should I do if I'm thinking of joining?
The first thing you should do is pray for God's direction. The fraternity is a great thing, and it has helped shape a lot of Christian men. But God may have other plans for you.
Also, spend some time getting to know the guys at Rush. Ask them how the fraternity has impacted their lives. All the guys are ready to encourage you in your walk with Christ, wherever that might take you.
